The Evolution of Shadow Life.

What was Shadow Life, as a band, has officially disbanded. Shadow Life is, for now, Dennis as a solo artist. He has decided to keep the name Shadow Life alive for his next musical endeavor. Shadow Life will be much of what it sounded like stylistically, only not a "band" per se. Dennis plans on continuing to write and record music with the help of additional musicians to complete the recordings. Many of whom with most likely be those that were part of the previous Shadow Life.

This website will be redesigned soon to reflect these changes.

Currently, Dennis is working on completing the CD that the band finished recording last year and is working to have that complete by sometime in 2007. More details on that as soon as they are available.

Message Boards Clean Up

Apparently our Message Boards have been hit with some spamming of some kind. There are a lot of people signing up that are just trying to add links. Most of which we don't approve of. If you find any as you are searching through the boards, we appologize. We're going to restructure the boards over the next few days. We may even have to move or delete them. We're not sure yet, but wanted to let you know we are aware of the problem. As we clean up the boards, if your name gets deleted from the memberlist, it was done by mistake. If you would be so kind as to signup again, that would be great. Then again, if you don't care and don't want to bother with it, that's cool too.

Kenny Is In the Works!

Not sure if any of you remember Kenny. At one point, we were a complete band with him. He was our lead vocalist for a short time before he relocated to California. Well, he's working with us to complete the lead vocal parts of the rest of the CD. We still lack some lead tracks on some of the songs on the new CD coming up. Kenny is working to fix that. We'll soon post a new track for you to hear featuring Kenny real soon. So be on the look out for that update. We're excited about being in the home stretch of the CD process. More updates soon.

We kind of already announced this on our newsletter from earlier this month, but we're doing it now on this site to make it official.

Pushing Forward!

Wow! Can't believe it's March already. Time flies doesn't it? I know it's a cliché saying, but it's so true. Spring is almost here and with it brings changes for Shadow Life. We have good news and bad news. We'll start with the bad.

The first thing on the list is about our beloved bassist Kardes. Over the past few months, he has experienced a ton of things that eats away more and more of his time. He's so busy in fact with all that is going on in his life, that he recently had to make some serious changes in his life. One of which was to quit Shadow Life. It was one of the few things he could remove from his plate in order to keep up with everything. So, as much as we hate to say goodbye, it's that time. On a bright note, our friendships carry on. Kardes, we love you and your family and thank you for 3 killer years with Shadow Life. We're very saddened to see you go, but wish you well.

When you're in a band and you loose a member you usually have to fill that gap. Well, for us, a bass player is a necessity. Filling Kardes shoes is not an easy task as he was a key member in sLife with his awesome talent and personality. But, the good news is we believe we have found that person and are beginning as early as this week to work with him. We will announce more specifics on him soon. I can tell you this, we are honored that he is considering being a permanent member of the Shadow Life family. We couldn't ask for a more perfect person to do the job.

With that, Kardes bio page will be changing soon to be updated with our new bassist's information, pics, etc. As always, we will announce that here when it's ready.

Now, about our CD progress. We are in the home stretch of the CD. Dennis has a few more songs to mix and tweak and afterwards will be sending off the CD off to be mastered and replicated so we can start our CD campaign. We know you all are anxious to get your hands on it and promise it will be soon. The goal we are shooting for is to have it in our hands at some point this Spring. As soon as it's complete, we will begin working on our sophomore release and hope to release it later this year as well as a thank you to all of you for your patience with this debut CD. We know it's been a long time coming. It's amazing how difficult it is to complete a CD with a vocal-based band who doesn't have a vocalist. However, we will prevail... Bonsai!!!!!!!

Last but never least....we still need a lead vocalist. Interested?

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year Shadow-Lifers,

Well, between a death in the Kardes' family, flu bugs, holiday revelry and general all-around maladjustment going back to "normal" time (as opposed to daylight saving time), we've been taking it easy for the past several weeks. Dennis has been mixing on nights that we haven't gotten together. There were a couple of sessions at the Dumpster re-recording drum tracks that weren't "gettin 'er done". Dave wants to do the drum track to "Payback" again, so that's next on the agenda.

Other than that, it's been pretty quiet. And, yes, we're still looking for the right voice and personality to complete the line-up. We were hoping Santa would drop him down the chimney, but apparently, even collectively, we weren't good enough this year to rate that kind of present. kardes did manage to score a motorcycle. Keep checking the news page. I'm sure photos will be coming soon.

In the meantime, let us know if you, or someone you know, wants to make 2006 the best year in musical history.

Progress!

Well, we're happy to report progress on the CD. No, not that CD. The other one - yeah, that one. I'll explain.

Given the long saga of looking for the right front-man and vocalist, we got our heads together and brainstormed some ideas for making some kind of forward progress in spite of it all. Somebody (AJ) had the bright idea of taking some of the songs from Common Ground and putting them on an EP. By the way, why do they call a short CD an EP? Doesn't EP mean Extended Play? If someone knows the answer to that, email him . He can't sleep at night 'cause it's bugging him.

I digress.

We know this unbelievable vocalist in the barren, frozen tundra in north Georgia. His name is Johnny Key. AJ and Johnny played together for a while a couple of years ago under the name Atomic Eyes. Lately, Johnny's been working on solo stuff - go get his free tunes at http://www.johnnykey.com, then come right back and finish reading. It's worth the effort.

Anyway, AJ and Johnny had a pretty good vibe on several songs they worked on. Some of those tunes were going to be part of the Common Ground CD. We got to thinking it would be pretty cool to showcase Johnny's voice with those tunes... kind of tying up the loose ends from Dennis' days with Atomic Eyes.

So, Johnny agreed to give it a go. He's been recording vox in his home studio and sending tracks for AJ to mix into the music sLife has already recorded.

Ya'll, I'm here to tell you - this may be an unorthodox way of getting some of our music out there, but these tunes are going to kick your a- uh, behind. They sound incredible in the rough mixes and we're all looking forward to the final mix-down and mastering. THEN....

We'll have an actual CD to put in your hands! Think of it as the PuPu Platter before dinner arrives. Just enough to whet your appetite.

Meanwhile, the search continues...........

The right mix.

Dennis is working hard to mix our CD to get it ready for the lead vocalist we are searching for. Everything is sounding great and we can't wait to share it with you. The CD will not be released this month as previously mentioned due to our search. However, as soon as it is ready, you will be the first to know. More details to come.

The Shadow Life Website: Redesigned.

As announced earlier this week, we've finally redesigned our site. We're pleased with the results and hope you like it too. We have made every effort to build this site in a manner that allows us to update information much faster than our previous design. Have a look around. If you feel like saying "hi" or just want to give us some feedback, send us an email. We'd love to hear from you.

One of the major items we still need to add to our site is music samples, which we will do very soon. You'll be pleased to know some of tracks we're adding are ones you've never heard. All of our music samples placed on this site will be included on our debut CD, Common Ground, tentatively due to be released around the end of August 2005. For now, you can go to our broadjam site to listen to a few demo tracks.

Welcome to the new Shadow Life website!

First things first...Happy 4th of July! Believe it or not, the new site is finally up and running. However, it is still a work in progress. For instance, this front page will be changing very soon. Possibly as early as this week if possible. This new design has been created for 2 reasons. One, because we know it's way past the time for us to have a new design and two, to make updates easier for us. This new design will provide us a way to release updates and new content in a more efficient way. This site, along with our newsletter, will allow us to get you info regarding our whereabouts and happenings quickly.

While you've been waiting on the new website, we've been spending a lot of time in the studio. We've had some slow points in the recording process, but are making an effort to get our momentum going again. We've made some enhancements in our own studio and plan to record what's left of the CD there. We can't wait to get it into your hands. We'll keep you posted on our progress. We're hoping to wrap up the last of the recordings of the CD (entitled Common Ground) by the end of June; giving us time to mix, master, print and press. Our tentative release date is scheduled for the end of August 2005.

Lastly, we love email. Be sure to drop us a note or two to let us know what you think of the website or just to say "hi." Keep the emails and comments coming! We will be starting our show schedule soon and will post the dates on this site as we schedule them. We look forward to seeing you soon.
